DoubleEagle20 Pillar of the Community United States 1750 Posts	Posted 12/18/2013 11:01 pm It makes a lot of sense to get rid of the $1 and $2 notes. The shredded old notes end up in landfills, where a dollar coin after about 30 or more years will be recycled for its metal. Our smallest note should be a five. It will save the taxpayers billions by switching to a $1 coin. From what I read, Canada saved nearly 10 times more than the actual projected savings on their switchover. Ideally, you would have only one if you made use of the two dollar note. However, with a dollar coin you will be more eager to use the one(s) received in change on the next purchase.
