I no longer own this one but I had the picture so I thought I would share this is one of my earlier dime purchases where I really had no idea what the heck I was doing. I got burned with this cleaned and not-so original surface S mint. Now I use it as a coin for a reminder of why you need to know what you're looking at in our hobby or one of the many predators will rip you off

I misread the date on this one as 1888 when I was looking at my thumbnail images, but it's actually 1883. Sorry to go back int time, but I really didn't want to let this one slip by unnoticed:

1888 here is the same coin in ANACS AU58 and currently in the hands of PCGS and hoping for an MS63 the kicker for me, is that they are the same obverse die in different states of degradation and the circular die crack that is forming is expanding from one coin to the other. Also, note the entire reverse of the higher grade example is completely pie cracked. I don't know about the rest of you but when I want a unique coin to standout from other 400 available in the same grade, this type of cracked die state is a winner for me Fully Awesome ANACS AU58 PCGS Hopeful - see how the obverse crack now goes through Liberty's head where it does not yet on the ANACS coin as well as how the reverse has degraded further
