The 54 Days Of Seated Liberty Coins!!

I no longer own this one but I had the picture so I thought I would share


this is one of my earlier dime purchases where I really had no idea what the heck I was doing. I got burned with this cleaned and not-so original surface S mint. Now I use it as a coin for a reminder of why you need to know what you're looking at in our hobby or one of the many predators will rip you off

here is the same coin in ANACS AU58 and currently in the hands of PCGS and hoping for an MS63

the kicker for me, is that they are the same obverse die in different states of degradation and the circular die crack that is forming is expanding from one coin to the other.

Also, note the entire reverse of the higher grade example is completely pie cracked.

I don't know about the rest of you but when I want a unique coin to standout from other 400 available in the same grade, this type of cracked die state is a winner for me

I am so psyched. I've been waiting for Legend Morphy auction in Vegas tonight like a kid waiting for Christmas. I had my sites set on just one coin and I got it. Thought I'd mention it here in the Seated thread because it's an 1885 Seated dime, so jumping back a couple of years.

Anyway, I needed an '85 for my proof set and when they posted the coins coming up for this auction I knew I HAD to have this coin.
