Very close to MS but I think this one would slab at AU-58. Great example of a 24-D, congrats!

It's a 20's branch mint coin - well known for poor strikes. This is actually a premium example of a 24D. There's tons of cartwheel luster under the brown. I call it 64BN. A great indicator that can help when you're trying to decide between AU and MS is the rim. When it's pretty clean and you don't see many contact marks, that's a good sign. The cheek, jaw and wheat lines can be tough to rely on since those areas can and do tone differently. There's a difference between toning and actual rub....and it can be hard to decipher at times. If you look at the PCGS photograde page, the MS63 Lincoln example is quite surprising. I think they did it to make a point. http://www.pcgs.com/photograde/#/Lincoln/Grades

Yeah, I would think MS64BN with a shot at 65. About as well struck as a '24-D Lincoln comes, it looks better than the CoinFacts MS64RB example.

Nice I think MS63BN minimum and a real good shot at MS64+BN. Tough call from a photo but as BadThad stated these branch mint 1920's wheaties come in fairly poor strikes and this one really looks well struck. One needs a coin like this in hand for a close examination, very tough to grade from a static photo (and this really good photo at that). Toning looks pretty nice and original.

That is a really nice strike for a 24D. And a nice woody at that! I'm split over 63 or 64. The chatter on the base of bust is juuuuust enough to give me pause on 64. But I'm know to be a tough grader. As for strike, I have a 57 LMC that the uninitiated would grade as VG because of lack of detail on the wheat ears and bust....until you realize it is a RED out of a MINT ROLL....lol...and I have his brother too. From the same roll.

I'd go out on a limb and give it MS-63 R&B. One of the nicest 24-D's I've seen in a while.
