At least polishing this coin didn't reduce its value - it was only worth 1p to begin with!

Back in December. I started watching all US error coin listings and messaging the sellers whenever I see any that belong in this thread. I message them, tell them that there coin is not an error, explain why, and just try and help... They are often damaged. What I have found while doing this is that sometimes people get mad at me and respond with hostility, while other times they say thank you and take it down, and just all kinds of different scenarios with all kinds of different people. At this time I feel like if I wasn't trying to rid ebay of these types of listings that there might by now be more posts in this thread that because of me were taken down. With the Canadian listings its no where near as much as a problem as it is with the US ones too.

It isn't the price asked that makes a coin the most expensive. If that were the case, I could find a common coin in my pocket change and ask a billion dollars for it. It is the price that it sells for that makes a coin the most expensive.

Normic67, that is pretty bad. It seems to me that the seller is trying to scam people.

How about an ultra-rare 'Minting Error'?

For those who may not know, the incuse edge inscription on British £2 coins is applied to the blanks before striking. The blanks then go into a giant hopper and are fed into the dies as they come, so the orientation of the edge inscription is completely random. Of the 8,445,000 2007 Slave Trade Abolition £2 coins issued for circulation, one would expect about 4,222,500 to have the edge inscription obverse-side-up and the other 4,222,500 reverse-side-up!

What amazes me about the common pocket change coins listed on ebay is that so many of them have a 'Buy It Now' price. I don't know about you, but ebay charges me 50p if I want to add a 'Buy It Now' price to my listing. In many cases the 'Buy It Now' fee is more than the coin is worth!

I've got a few rare coins as well with the obverse on the reverse and the reverse on the obverse.

It's from Etsy, but I'd say it still counts:

I know it isn't a coin, and it's nowhere near close to being the worst - but a seller has items like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bank-Of-...AOSwnIleY7z2 described as "uncirculated". That's clearly not uncirculated and it's fairly fraudulent to describe it as such.
