With all the toning talk lately, I thought this unnatural example deserved a mention.

A blue spot on a well circulated coin

Rest in Peace

If that blue spot wasn't bad enough, they got the date wrong...

OMG - I found a 1976 'scuffed' error cent on the sidewalk when I was on vacation in Chicago in 2000 - and I spent it, unaware of its value!

That poor Lincoln's been on the mean streets too long. est. value: $0.01, 48 of them wouldn't be worth a postage stamp.

I really want to know if the seller thinks that this happened at the mint.

151324769341

It's a VERY Impossible error according to the seller and even though it's raw (duh) the seller picked a PCGS certification number for it. If he's right this coin is an MS-67!

EDIT: I found one more. I don't know if it's been listed here yet, but it's a good one. 121378357319

This is a great thread!

Look at the luscious toning on this "1951 Washington Silver Quarter Gem Bu Mint Set Toning"

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1951-Washin...em20e5f5b3ca

Totally worth the premium starting bid...

And I call this one, "Exit wound" toned.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1936-Mercur...em51bec550d1

Just makes me laugh at what passes for "toned" these days.

You keep using those words--I don't think it means what you think it means.
