Paper money rather than a coin, but still. Are they crazy? It looks like they took a match to it and realized it had cool numbers half way through burning it, then came up with the bright idea of throwing it on ebay.

Waxemm,
I regret that 1872 CC is probably just one of the many that I suppose I'll never have.

How much would a fair price be ?

Is it better to have this one or one without the star engraving but with a hole though it ?

poor 1872-cc quarter a scarce coin like that deserves a good home. I'd love to add it to my collection but $400 is a little steep. I'm watching it, curious to see if there are any takers at that price.

Pertinax, That's not something I could really answer for you. For me personally I could not pay that for the coin being damaged. The carving is nothing special and takes away from a nice coin. I think if I was going to buy a coin like that I would save up and buy one in much better shape. As far as the star or hole, that would be completely up to you and your preference, if you were going to buy one or the other.

$777.77? I think since most of the bill remains, you could get a buck for it...if you're lucky

He also states "Don't ask how it got burned" in the listing! And to add something new to this thread:

Can this guy prove that this is a SMS 1964 Lincoln Cent?

And $36.85, just for shipping!

Now it's bumped up to $43.26--for "one day shipping"--what service!
I think Fedex charges a bit less for that.

Don't know what's worse, the coin or the photo. The title says polished, I think I'll take the seller's word for it!
