just now reading this. personally, I never buy things on craigslist. I know it's already been said many times but I use sites like APMEX and MCM to buy bullion. then they ship it to the PO Box and I pick it up there. when large amounts of cash are involved I get uncomfortable. that's why the only cash I have at any given time on me is like 30 dollars. can't even imagine carrying $13,000 in cash on my person. anyways, looking forward to seeing pics of these coins.

So, the guys ended up being extremely nice and professional. I tested the magnetic, thickness, diameter, and weight of each coin and they checked out. I also looked at them with a loupe, and although not brilliant uncirculated, are real coins. We were also very cautious as to not being followed or jumped, and all worked out well. When I was checking out the coins I asked pretty pointed questions as to his story. He and his partner split the money as a weekend job, and they mostly do it for appliances but this is the first time they had ever gotten something like this. They really didn't know anything about the coins or even demonstrated knowledge in gold as a numismatic investment. Below are a few pics demonstrating the coins.

Glad this worked out and nothing bad happened. I am a bit risk averse and would not have done it without armed guards. :)

I got $3000 in silver over the course of 2-3 visits at my LCS, he was smart enough to rent an office from a lawyer, no security really but heck do you want to take the chance of ripping off someone in a lawyers parking lot? Also I went in with my brother... combined weight of the two of us 450-500 pounds... I walked in with a stack of 100's walked out with a stack of bullion rounds and never once looked over my shoulder. If you have $1000 in your pocket and you walk around like you know someone is going to steal it then they might just try, if you act naturally then no one knows you have $1000, carrying bags of loose change out of a bank for CRH is the same theory, no one is going to mess with me and if they do say give me all your money... I would, right over the head... assuming I could swing the bag, they get heavy... or just drop it on their FOOT!

Great grab on the gold by the way, better images would be nice

Congratulations coinkid it looks like you did well.

Are you leaving them in the flips or are you going to put them in a more long term holder?

What I don't like that I saw, was that no one was helping you.
You asked how to tell if they're real.
The only thing helpful were saying to meet at the police station.

for the coins!
