I'm almost 100% sure I'm seeing an S.

Looks more like the top of a D than an S to me. That's not a 1916, is it?

If that's a 1916 you have you should check the diagnostics on the '16-D reverse overall as all 4 known genuine D reverses we're rotated

It is a 1916, but upon flipping the coin over it doesn't appear to have a rotated reverse. I'm leaning towards an "S" at the moment.

If you lgoogle imagines of s mint marks 1916 Merck you will see some pics of the s over s. the double bump at the top and the entire width matches pretty well I think s over s
