Paid $5 above melt for this and a couple '45 florins. Is this better than melt in this condition?

If you can read the date on a '39 florin then it is worth more than melt as a space filler. Your coin looks like a problem free circulated coin. Worth at least $10 more than melt.

You did well! My Maccas (Australian coin catalogue) lists this for $15 in VG and $35 in Fine.

Good score
You would get at least $20 on ebay

I sell really average ones on ebay at $30-35 BIN and they always sell. I reckon your coin is VF and worth $50-60

This coin appears to have a very 'flat' patina.
I guess that is because it was scanned, not photographed.
Needs confirmation for weight and comparison ring tone, but I think it is OK.

I like the details in the images. I do not know the grading points, but I am guessing it is a high enough grade to have value. Nice coin.

The '39 florin here would be graded F,
Sheldon VF20. That's how I see it when looking at PCGS Photograde (generally), for American coins.
