Here's one of the WORSE transaction ever - for a few bucks... Read on:

----------------------------
01-12-14 - Dear xxx,

First I wanted to apologize profusely because I cannot locate your item. I went through every nook and cranny but could not find your penny! Perhaps I shipped to the wrong buyer Wow. Obviously I will refund your entire purchase. And since I already paid for postage I figured I will send you a surprise coin anyway.

Again, multiple apologies.

--Canadian_coins

01-24-14 - Dear canadian_coins,

Hello, I received your package today. It is totally unacceptable as it is not the coin I bid on. Written on a piece of paper was the following....".ooops! $2 2006 BU 10th anniversary coin". Please explain were the auctioned coin, a 1965 cent is? I bid on the auction coin NOT A 2006 $2.

--xxx

Dear xxx,
I understand but I refunded your purchase fully and emailed you that I would still give you a coin as a gift for free.

I sent you a message on 1/13/14 explaining the situation and apologizing. I could have cancelled the transaction but instead decided to send you something as a gift.

So much for trying to be a nice guy.

--Canadian_coins

Dear canadian_coins,
You failed to answer my question....where is the coin I bid on? I have no use for your gift that is a circulated marked up $2! I want the coin I bid on please.

-xxx

Dear xxx,
Did you read my original message? I explained that I could not find the coin when I prepared for shipment. I honestly do not know where it is and maybe I've mistakenly shipped with another package. I explained and apologized. What else do you need? I refunded your money PLUS gave you a free BU twoonie.

I could have cancelled the transaction but did not so I could give positive feedback at least.

--Canadian_coins

Dear canadian_coins,
Now I understand!! I am out a coin that I needed because of your inability to control your stock. How is that fair? Maybe you realized that the coin was far more valuable than you thought? As it was a 1965 specimen strike valued up to $100.00 and difficult to locate. I never agreed to your nice guy gift, you just plowed ahead with it. A different solution is required.

--xxx

Dear xxx,
I am totally offended by your statements because I am an honest seller. I made a mistake and reported it to you immediately and refunded your purchase. I really do not have the coin and did not sell it for $100 elsewhere. I can't believe you think I would do something like this.

--Canadian_coins

Dear canadian_coins,
Enough, you messed up, and think that you are the self anointed "nice guy". Lesson learned I guess. I will not post any feedback for you as I do not want to dirty your spotless feedback. Looks like in the end who was the nice guy! For it is me who was bought out for a well circulated crappy $2 coin. As for you being offended..... I do not know you and can only judge you by the way you tried to appease a me with $2.

--xxx

Dear xxx,
yes I messed up and did apologize for that. I wasn't trying to appease you in any way. Honestly, I was truly out of stock and I cannot explain what happened, perhaps I dropped the coin in another packed by mistake. If I did, then I would hope that the buyer reports the extra coin to me.

I can also offer to find a similar coin, and will gladly send it to you.

Again I feel so bad for what took place, and mistakes do happen.

--Canadian_coins

(Contacted ebay, reviewed and Transaction cancelled)

Dear xxx,
I did some more investigation and found that this coin was actually sold for $0.01 on DEC 08 ( ebay item 181273211946). You can see it is the same pictures. For some reason the item was relisted! I called ebay to find out how that could happen and they are looking into it. I am pretty good keeping up with my inventory so I was really surprised by this situation, but mistakes do happen. I hope this makes more sense to you now.

--Canadian_coins

(case opened ebay now investigating why item was relisted)

The vast majority of the "haywire" buyers I've had to endure on ebay was related to <$10 items. The easiest way to deal with them is:

- Full refund
- Always be polite to a fault
If the buyer is unrelenting or gets abusive:
- Stop all communication
- Report the buyer to ebay (there is a link on the sold item page)

@Pokermandude - This was my fault, I should have cancelled the transaction. At least ebay was on my side this time.

I only did the first part:

- full refund
- always be polite

Then:

- send a free coin

I had a similar experience recently too. I sold a couple coins, both <$2 with free shipping. I misplaced one and asked the buyer if I could send a substitute (1967 BU penny and 1967 BU nickel). Buyer says sure. I send those two replacement coins plus one of coins he did win that I hadn't lost.

Buyer claims non-receipt. Then starts making things up in messages, like that I was supposed to send him a silver 1967 dime not a penny and nickel -this makes me think he received the coins and is extorting more, but I digress.

I tell him to wait until the New Year (items were sent during the Xmas rush) and if they don't arrive I'll refund in full. He messages me back the next day after I sent that (around Dec. 23rd) saying "where is my items!!?!" I refund him in full and block him from ever bidding again.

I hear from him 2 weeks after that. He asks "where is my refund? the credit card I used got stolen so I cancelled it and cant get the refund. Mail me a cheque like you promised". I promptly reported him to ebay and made no reply.

Cliff notes:
There is no pleasing some people. Don't let them get to you!

What I discovered is that even if you do everything possible to make up for a mistake you can in fact get negative feedback if a transaction isn't cancelled.

As long as you're always polite and play it all by the book, if the buyer does leave a neg you will have a good chance to get it removed with some effort. Especially if this isn't the first time that buyer has claimed non-reciept. There are other ways to get negs removed too. I've only ever received one, from a very spiteful buyer. I looked at the feedback he had left for sellers. 6 out of 13 were negatives. That was the only thing that saved me from his wraith. The first few sellers who got negs from him didn't or couldn't get that neg removed.

Playing by ebay's book involves always being polite and giving a full refund BEFORE it goes to Paypal or ebay arbitration -> Aside: If you have an issue with a buyer and a case is opened and Paypal/Ebay rules on it in their favour, the seller will NOT receive their FVF credit back.

Negative Feedback left as a result of the following situations may be removed:
-A buyer didn't pay for an item and an unpaid item case is recorded against the buyer.
-Member to member messages show that a buyer had no intention of paying for an item.
-Either member didn't meet the requirements to form a legally binding contract at the time the sale was completed or when Feedback was left.
-A buyer or seller provided an invalid email address and couldn't be contacted at the time of the sale.
-A major event beyond the seller's control, such as an earthquake or flood, is directly and solely responsible for a bad buyer experience. In these situations, we also remove low detailed seller ratings.
-An ebay system issue is directly and solely responsible for a bad buyer experience. In these situations, we may also remove low detailed seller ratings.
-PayPal places a hold on a payment and notifies the seller to delay shipping of an item, and the negative or neutral feedback is a result of the delayed shipping.
-We are provided with a valid court order requesting Feedback removal.
-We receive a decision from NetNeutrals, via the Independent Feedback Review process, requesting Feedback removal.
-Negative or neutral Feedback is a result of seller not leaving Feedback for a buyer.
-A buyer is suspended for behavior we find warrants removing all negative and neutral Feedback left for sellers. If any member is suspended within 90 days of registration, all Feedback left by that member is removed.
-An ebay Buyer Protection case is decided in a seller's favor.
-There's a Global Shipping Program error. We may also remove or adjust low ship cost or ship time detailed seller ratings.
-A buyer has shown a pattern of leaving disproportionately high rates of low Feedback or low detailed seller ratings.

@bassmaster that's exactly what it felt at the end of the day.

Can sellers publish their black listed buyers?

I just started a thread on this topic. ebay isn't protecting sellers so it's time we get together and do something about it.

We can't leave negative feedback? Perhaps We could.

Never mind, I guess they don't have one for reporting sellers. I just noticed your thread. It is a good idea.

Arianzo....I'm a power seller with a top rated status and have been on ebay for years, but yet I've never heard of NetNeutrals. What exactly is that?
