Good to hear, as I was concerned about a pixelated look. I do love the colors and the team. Didn't know final Mintage was that low. It's pretty decent Mintage, as back in 2006 the coin mintages could still be very high.

Quote: I've seen photos where the image looks pixelated. Your image looks very nice; I don't see any pixelation. I have to say here: I do like the coin and the theme, but it IS pixelized. As I understand, there are several ways to apply the colour: The one is like Coloured Maples, where there is only the "touch" of the colour (same as colorized quarters), the second is "pad printing" - with this way we usually have the full picture, and most of them do have small pixells, and the enamel. Thanks for advice, yingyang, to use the silica-gel. I also used it (after), but not sure that it effective for me, since I do not have hermetic safe.

Wow, this coin has increased in value by $100 after 8 years. Likely due to the rarity, 15,000 were planned but as @Yingyang says many less were sold. I have to agree with Silveroid on the printing technique used back in 2006. Definitely not as sophisticated as today. The clarity was lost (look at the face of the musher, no features) due to the technology of the day. You can also see this type of printing in the Birds of Canada large 25 cent series (and that series also has increased considerably in value, especially those in the early years) with less technical printing. So we see a transition in RCM's ability to produce coloured coins using different techniques.

I really like my 2006 dogsled coin. It's a great design much like a coloured version of the 1994 SD. Sadly the total package suffers from the weak red display flip that the mint used for a couple of years. Quote: Wow, this coin has increased in value by $100 after 8 years.
It sold for $89.95 or roughly $100 including tax (sterling silver) in 2006. Recent sales on ebay were $105-130 including shipping though it was a bit higher last year. Dealers seem to have it listed higher (i.e. not selling) but this is one of those coins where dealers get stuck. Because of taxes, it's much cheaper to by on ebay.

Quote: So $105 I'm looking at sold items on ebay. Asking prices mean virtually nothing, even from dealer websites. Here is just one example: sold for $81USD or about $92 CAD plus shipping. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2006-Canada-...em4d251b0f0cAdded: Just noticed that listing is charging tax so that makes it a little more.

It's .925, therefore tax. And in my neck of the woods that's 15%. Plus delivery and so on. My quote was from Cdn Coin. Exactly $100.00 over retail. So I quoted that dealer.
That one on ebay would be delivered to me for $121.65. Cdn $92.14 Coin + $13.65 Delivery + $15.86 Tax = $121.65 Try again.

Yes, I noted above that I inadvertently picked a listing that was subject to tax. But just check ebay - there are several that sold for less than 100 USD and no tax. Even with shipping, that's nowhere near $189CAD and nowhere near $100 appreciation. Consider this. If you bought the coin in 2006 for $89.95 plus tax you would have paid $103. You'd be able to sell it on ebay now for between $92 and $124. So between $11 loss and $21 gain.

I appreciate all the info guys, I did bid on an auction in summer ending around $150. I've been watching to score one around the $100 mark. I've seen some ebay ebay ads near the $275 point. This was very common in 2012, I've been seeing the coin sell around $120 this year. It's great to hear people still think it's a great coin even with the pixelation. It seems if I come across one at good price I will pick it up. Yingyang, great score on CN Tower coin, lowest I've seen them is $50-$75. It's really nice looking and is going on my wish list. I'm much like you, I purchase what I like. I do have 3 current themes I'm perusing currently as well: silver dollar collection / toned coins / proof sets from 1971 - current. I have from 1994 to current - only missing 1996/1997 from this section of the set.

CC Ottawa, the auction you listed I won, only to find out the coin may have been sold by a clerk in their physical store. The seller was generous and offered me a $50 credit. However, I've chose not to take him up on the offer. I feel it would be taking advantage of a seller!! I did get some other great deal from this seller and great conversation. I highly recommend East Coast Coins in Torbay Newfoundland. They are very reputable.
