It has a well defined full horn and a bulging eyeball, but that streak across it is disconcerting top say the least. Would Acetone help this? Report this Post to the Staff

kanga Pillar of the Community United States 5825 Posts	Posted 02/18/2014 08:05 am It looks like something I've seen on coins that were in an older coin album (no reverse side window). And I suspect it's not something that can be removed without altering the coin's surfaces. I would try acetone and let it go at that no matter the results. Report this Post to the Staff

paddy murphy Valued Member United States 401 Posts	Posted 02/19/2014 1:13 pm I have coins with very old tape marks on them and this isn't that. Pretty sure Kanga is spot on because this coin, and all of the other ones I've posted in CCF including my 1856 FE , were in Whitman folders from the 1950's until I liberated them into 2x2's in the early 80'S. The streaks on the reverse look more like charcoal or old lead pencil smudges in person. The color in my cell phone photos are uniformly awful, someday I'll upgrade to a real setup...
