Went to the Long Beach show last month and visited the same folks from whom I purchased the mislabeled Occidente octavo, hoping for another score.

They had some SUDs with old Guttag reference numbers. Well being ignorant of this type of coin I asked Max of MCC to help me. Ended up with the following coin he was sure was real and never used albeit a weak strike.

Guttag 3003E, 36.75 x 3.5 mm, 27.22 grams. $50.

A little lacking in peripheral detail, as struck obviously... is that typical for this particular variety?

I swear no two of these ever look the same to me!

There are many variants of those indeed :)
It's typically struck like that, and despite the missing details from the strike, it looks close to uncirculated to me (with all the adjustment marks).
It's a very nice 8 reales of this type !
