Hi Members! Do you all think there is enough interest to try and put together a forum annual meeting? We really need more input from you guys to start looking into this! How about posting here just a simple yes or no if you have an interest providing we can accommodate the majority of those interested in having one? Think it over, perhaps in terms of next summer near a smaller venue show with a dinner party or something. Thanks! Edited by Mike 07/30/2005 03:26 am

Sounds like fun. I would be interested if I can convince my slave drivers that I need the time off. Normally I need to give six months notice of Vacation so let me know if a date and place in the US is set. If Its in or near Houston I have two spare bedrooms I can offer. Jan 27-28th is the 48th annual money show at the George R brown Convention centre...

NO!!! And a big giant YES. I think it's a great idea. Things like this can grow! I'm only throwing the NO in so I can put this back into the equation: Don't lose sight of eventually having ONE Big International CoinCommunity Convention! That would be the big banana!
Ideas like this usually start locally and spread out. But, as you said we're already all over the place, so starting everywhere only seems natural! A couple years of individual, regional, annual, meetings to build up to ONE big (or small) international event, 3-5 years down the road is doable if people have the enthusiasm.
Even if everybody is able to pay their own way, there will still be $$ incidentals for the organizers. Fundraisers are a great way to start. And maybe the only way. Donations, some people will. Dues is another way, but...How organized do you want to become? How organized are we allowed to become? Anyway, it sounds like a great idea that can be done both in regional groups and as a whole.
Jerry

Hi Mike,
Interesting idea. Keep us all posted, and if things work out, I would enjoy attending.

I think a good start would be to graph this sites current active users. From there, come up with central locations to each area.

Planning around a "big" money show will be very expensive as everything in those towns jack their rates when any big deal is taking place. I think we need to pick a smaller community that really needs the business and we may have to put on our own show? Start small and then work your way up to the big time. We have people here who deal, sell, buy and trade and as long as the hotel has a conference room we could have some fun! From that fun will come ideas and expansion. Its like a fire, think big, but start small. Find a little community with a nice restaurant with a group room (eliminate catering right off the bat)! Perhaps a community with a little history or sight seeing? Just my thoughts!

Well, if there are people here in europe who are interrested, they can contact me, by mail or MSN, so we can see if we can get something roling on this side of the creek, maybee, if we start continent wise, we even can arrange something with pensions or so, and maybee make a visit to our colleges on other continents as well.
Greetings, Carl

I surely can help out with whatever. Living here in florida, I can tell you that we have PLENTY of hotels and conference areas. Infact, I believe my CEO is intending on renting out an entire floor of our new building to folks needing the space. Our new building is 30,000 sq. Feet and not even 30 employees state wide. It's in the heart of Ybor City, Tampa w/ plenty of dining and activites within walking distance.

Okay folks, CoinFest will be held in Indy, San Francisco, Dallas/Fort Worth, Rehobeth beach, and 1 more city to be determined. These are 2006 schedules. Exact dates will be posted as they become available. I travel pretty frequently, so if anyone is attending any major show or auction, please let me know. My next show will be Baltimore August 11-14th

I'd like to put in a pitch for Arizona and a little different conference format. Arizona in February is warm and sunny. From what I could tell, western central AZ last winter was the only place in continental US which didn't have snow (oh, yuk!). Phoenix is expensive (but not as expensive as Florida); however, out in the desert west of Phoenix (60 mi east of Quartzsite if you're familiar with the area), we live very inexpensively in our RVs in a tiny RV park (32 units on 40 acres) complete with a clubhouse (holds 80 people), showerhouse, and plenty of guest parking/tenting at $5 per night. Not a hotel/motel conference situation, this could be an informal get-together in the middle of nowhere. See for details: http://www.geocities.com/snowbirdwestrv/index.html (click on the "here"). Come in from the winter!

Let's make a camping trip from europe to the american dessert then :-)
Can we do some fishing and BBq there too Fred?, then it would be a nice place to go, and it's in the middle of the states, so if there are other members from the Community who want to see some other folks..............
Anny idea will be welkom, and (not next year, then I planned to go to Greece) as a holliday spot, with coinstop, it's always o.k.!

How about it folks? Is anyone else interested in something like this? Maybe something less formal like trying to attend a show or one of the COINFEST events and then meeting somewhere for dinner? I'll leave this thread up for August and see what we come up with! Thanks, Mike

When all the leaves are gone and the skys are gray (thank you Mamas and Papas), think of this to have a meeting: Too many hotels to count and too much meeting space to bargain for! My little town of New Smyrna Beach. 1 hour from Orlando and 10 miles south of Daytona. BTW...if the bridge is down, I live 10 minutes from here.
