Richard, I'd love to see it happen and it sounds affordable. It's up to the members now. Is there a minimum amount required to get them made? We could poll and get hard #'s on who wants them. Mike

I'd like one too! I think it's a great idea. There are so many Hoosiers on this forum that I never know when or where I might run into someone. Anyone have any ideas on a design? I'm not at all artistic, or else I'd try to come up with something. We wouldn't want stick figures and chicken scratches! Rachel [:p]

I think it's an excellent idea. It would help promote our forum and also help to identify other members at shows that you didn't know was there. Mark me down as feeling it is a win-win proposal. catman

According to Twentycent, "The ANA Worlds Fair money show is going to be held in Denver in August 2006." That's good for me in that I live 300 miles from Denver. Also, count me in regarding the pin. Sound great!

Boy, you guys are moving too fast for me. Trying to get caught up with what is going on around here. I thought the suggestion for regional meetings would be prefered over a national get-to-gather, at least at first. But who knows, it may be able to be pulled off. I know The old forum I belonged to tried to have one and it kind of flopped. I liked Terrys idea of a small town with accomodations for a small group, with facilities to show and sell coins. Fred's suggestion to have it in Arizona would be well received by members at least in the western part of the country. I had a thought of offering my barn and holding the meeting on the ground level (plenty of room). Camping would be no problem as long as everyone agreed to stop fishing long enough to come to the meetings. I would personally BBQ a whole beef and throw in Buffalo burgers to help with the meals. We could also scare up some beans and potato salad for the ones who can't catch any fish. The time of the event would need to be late in the spring after the snow has melted and we have all the livestock out to pasture. That way the barn would be empty. So what ever happens I'll try and make the connection. How's that

What kinda fish you got in those Wyoming waters? And do they rise to dry flies? I also suspect, having spent a little time in Wyoming that any meeting would have to be in summer else we all would get snowed in if we could even get there. Fred (also a fly tier and fisherman)

This is an example of the type of fish caught around these parts of Wyoming. They have all been trained to ignore all baits except dry flys, and they must be presented in a very special manner. (Which I would be very willing to show you). Yes summer is the best time of year to fly fish, as trying to hit one of those little drilled holes in the ice at 100 feet is a little difficult. Floating for any distance is totally out of the question. So tie up a few and I'll take along a couple extra, and we will meet on the bank of the stream this next spring. How does that sound for a afternoon activity?

It's a date! Nice job on the fish training - it's always tough weaning them away from wet flies. Rainbows. Got any brookies or goldens, not that I'm fussy - trout is about all I fish for. Any particular flies you have in mind? Lotsa grizzly and brown hackle on hand, a little peacock herl (fresh), and all sorts of floss. With most trout, I've found #10 to #14 flies with greys or browns and a touch of color work best, but that touch of color varies widely from area to area. What's your preference? BTW, I gotta buy a new fly rod before coming up. My last one got broken tangling with an 8-lb brookie in Labrador last year. Fred

I prefer cheap, be it glass, graphite, nylon, or Orvis split bamboo . The places I go, the distances I go to get there, and the packed condition of my car guarantees a fly rod won't survive long. Even in my present highly mobile status as a fulltime RVer, I still have a fly tying kit. All I need is some water to inspire me and enough money to buy a non-resident AZ license. Fred

O.K. now what is the latest news on this planned get togather? I'm thinking from reading some of the posts, that it should be held somewhere around a blue ribbon trout stream this next spring.
Fred, you ask about the equipment, and I go with an Orvis graphite light weight rod. They guarantee that if I break it, they will replace it...so I'm trying to really try their patients by breaking them on a fairly fast schedule. So far, they are as good as their advertisements and send me a new tip everytime. As for flys, I especially like the #14 very light elk hair irresistible, on an barb less hook. This is my No. 1 fish catcher of all times.
