OK, as if I was going to let an opportunity to post a pic of some of my Ikes go by...

Smoke- that ANACS label looks really good on that Ike slab. It looks much better than the NGC strip. And I take back what I said about the OGP not carrying a premium. I am, in fact, guilty of spending more on these silver Ike proofs still encapsulated. Why? Because I like to open them myself. I pay extra for this honor. It's well worth it.

Darth, I try not to pay too much extra for the OGP, but I usually fail. Something about how the coin looks in its original home. We wont even get into how much I paid for that graded 72. If I can ever get a pic that shows the stunning purple and blue and red toning, you might have an idea the premium I paid on that one.

Nice set of Ikes smokeriderdon...Until today I've never really had an opinion about Ikes but now after this I wanna start collecting them. I swear every new coin I mess with I want to start collecting at this rate I'll never finish a collection out

Stick with the Ikes. Trust me. I'm on my way to finishing my second Dansco set. After that? Well, I've got to get started on the third! I'm now in the process of upgrading my PCGS registry set too. It's loads of fun. I love that Ikes are not expensive to collect, at least not raw. In many ways they are the perfect collector coin for any type of numismatist, beginner or advanced.

Darth, very nice sir! All 68's! Not bad, not bad. :) I am thinking about sending in a 71, 73 and 74 just to make it a complete set like yours.

Quote: Darth, very nice sir! All 68's! Not bad, not bad. :) Believe it or not, I had to actually hunt for PF68 CAMEOs. Most of these graded OGP Ikes were PF69! My OCD stopped me from getting different grades. I know it's silly, but I already have PF69s in my registry set. I just wanted these to be different, yet all the same. . . and cheaper! That's always a plus. By all means, send those others in to ANACS. I know they're just labels, but they sure make the packaing more attractive, IMO. @jbuck - glad I could help!

Well...this is something I am really guilty of!! I love cracking Ikes and like you I was born in 72 and I love the silver, AND this is one of the years with lots and lots and lots of minor doubling so I will attach a pic for you to look at yours to compare. Jbuck is the resident Ike-aknowledgist but I'm amazed at how often these have doubling.. Great big awesome coins!
