I finally upgraded my & my daughter's Lincoln Cent collection from Littleton folders to a Dansco 7100 (birthday gift from my wife). This is my first experience with the albums, and I'm impressed. It makes me want the new 7070 even more... After looking through our collection, I was reminded how many modern cents are in pretty bad shape since our goal was just to fill up as much as possible the first round! Now to work on upgrades and some of the elusive semi-key dates.

I like the Littleton albums for my Lincoln's. I tried the folders but my Jeff's started toning badly so I got Whitman Classics for them. I have Intercept Shield albums for my Indians and Mercs, really nice. My fave is probably Whitman Classics, very nice looking albums. I bought a Dansco for my ATB's because of all the hype here at CCF and liked it ok until I had to glue a page back together from coming apart.

I use mostly Whitman Classic Albums. I have some Dansco ones but some of the features irritates me. getting the slides out is really a poor design. And so many of theirs have those empty slots at the end. Poor engineering. The appearances are almost like an expensive book though and many like to put them out in a bookcase for display. All in all, smart move to get coins out of Folders.

I have a few different albums from different makers. Pros and cons for each. I like the Dansco's because of the ability to see both sides of the coin. But sliding out the plastic covers can be a pain. Also, I don't like how the coins fall out closest to the binding. I like the Whitman (and other) press fits, but some albums require a small press to get a coin in. One side exposed to air, the other less so. I may have noticed different patina on opposite sides of some coins, especially the AU types. But I like having them on a shelf to access and upgrade on the go. Press fit albums may be good for an upgrade or two before becoming too loose to retain the coin well. Then it's time to buy new ones (no tape!). Luckily these are the least expensive designs to procure.

Congratulations, cheezyfryes. Quote:I bought a Dansco for my ATB's because of all the hype here at CCF and liked it ok until I had to glue a page back together from coming apart. Ouch. My oldest Dansco albums are almost 30 years old and have never had that problem. Quote: I like the Whitman (and other) press fits, but some albums require a small press to get a coin in. Those are folders, not albums. All albums show both sides of the coin. Whitman makes both albums and folders. Dansco used to make folders as well.

Great choice!
But the best are the ones that include proofs. I'm still trying to complete mine with the dang proofs. I also started to redo my buffalo album.

Quote: Ouch. My oldest Dansco albums are almost 30 years old and have never had that problem. It was a big let down for sure. You hear so much about Dansco but I wasn't impressed at all. The page coming apart wasn't too big a deal because I buy the old 50's albums and I'm becoming a pro at gluing pages properly so the slides still work.

Nice what you are doing. But, Quote: It makes me want the new 7070 even more...
I believe this is not going to happen. Sad in a big way.

The only Dansco I had anything like that happen with was one I bought used. I have no clue how it was handled prior to me getting it. All my others have been fine thus far.
cheezy, thats the hazard of upgrading from a folder to an album. The lower grade coins all of a sudden look worse.

The 7100 is a great upgrade for showcasing your Lincoln collection. Even G4 brown coins get a boost from being in that album!
