I recently ordered 10 Canadian silver dollars in AU condition at $9 each.

What I would like to know is how silver dollars can sell for $9.

Is there less than an ounce of silver in Canadian silver dollars?

Yes.

Canadian circulating silver dollars, issued 1936-1967, were made of .800 fine silver and an actual silver weight (ASW) of 0.6 ounces. After 1968, the circulating dollars were made of nickel, and commemorative dollars were 0.500 fine silver, 0.375 oz ASW.

Today you can pick up as many silver dollars as you need for about $8.75 each at local dealers.
Pay cash no taxes or other fees.
If your dollars are in AUNC condition and are special dates then not a bad deal depending on what it cost you on top ie. shipping etc.
Unfortunately the cdn dollar is not one oz.

Thanks to both of you for your help.

I did pay $5 for postage.

There is no place close to where we live that I could buy the dollars from a dealer.

So, I'm happy with the transaction, and look forward to getting the silver dollars in the mail.
