1969 S Penny With Doubling? - Coin Community Forum

Snooderpuff Valued Member United States 126 Posts	Posted 03/06/2014 12:31 pm I noticed this penny looked like the "969" in the date looked a little doubled along with the "ST" in TRUST. The mint mark looks really odd to me, too. Is this doubling or just a form of md. Thanks for your time and any information on this will be greatly appreciated. Report this Post to the Staff

This also occurs on all dies that that damaged punch. Look on your date. The flat shelf like look is a partial clue. The rest to me on the date is the reducing of the overall size of the devices. Keep looking. There are out there. The 1968-1972 Cents had lots of Machine Doubling those years. Report this Post to the Staff
