It is possible that what I am seeing are the tiny scuffs that Sel describes.

Quote: Sooner or later, it will be time for trout1105 to make himself at least slightly famous, and at least be recognized more formally by his numismatic buddies, by submitting for publication an article with illustrations to the Australasian Coin and Banknote Magazine, on this subject; he has knows the most on scarcity vs condition with these. I am NO way the worlds expert on these coins, I simply tend to remember everything written about these and have added my own observations. The values for these coins have yet to be tested because there are a great many "Run of the Mill" coins out these and very few high grade coins have actually been sold to the best of my knowledge. The collectors with the higher grade coins are probably reluctant to part with them anyway, Maybe in a few years when these collectors decide to part with the coins will we see some definite values for these. Just my take on this, Time will tell

Trout. YOU are the expert when nobody else has published any meaningful information on the topic, especially if you have retained that information and added your own observations to it. Plus you own the copyright to the images of some AU and MS coins and an illustrated article could show the differences between typical $30 coins and the higher grades. So please step up to the plate and write an article for CAB magazine, it isn't that hard and I'd rather read about a circulating variety that I might get lucky to find than all the granny-bait coins that seem to fill too many pages of any coin mag.

@ Neil and Sel I don't subscribe or buy any coin magazines so it would be pointless for me to do a spiel on this coin. As far as achieving fame goes , I really don't have any use for that and am quite happy to plod along unheralded. If anyone wants to use my images to send to CAB then feel free to do so.

Just as a matter of interest I have the MS62 coin for sale on ebay, Buy it now or best offer. As there have been NO recorded sales of this coin at this grade it is interesting what buyers have offered so far (unsuccessfully). $350, $700, $800, $850 and $850 so far. The 2 lower bids came from collectors and the other 3 bids came from Dealers, Which is interesting because that would be their "Wholesale" price I would assume because they would have the expectation of making a good profit when they sell. This is a "Ground-breaking" sale and I am enjoying the challenge as nobody has set a benchmark price for this coin yet. If a AU58 Mule can sell for $700-$800 (and there are a plethora of those) This coin is far rarer than that and IMHO deserves a better status

You know that the sale of that MS62 coin could potentially send you over the ATO $10000 per year sales on ebay threshold Jim

Boy did I get those values on the mules so wrong. These are "Blue sheet" values and PCGS pop report figures at the moment. AU55 pop= 47 value = $1400 AU58 Pop= 38 value = $2150 MS62 pop = 16 value = $4400 according to these figures these coins are NOT that rare at all
