When I'm coin shopping on the bay I mostly look at the pictures first and when I see something that interests me I look at the price and then the description. If I get past those things I'll then check shipping terms and seller ratings. If I see words like "Estate Sale" in the auctions title or "UN-searched", "Wow", "Breathtaking", "Mind Blowing" or the one that really gets me is "P Q Stunner" I'm gone! I don't have time for that kind of foolish hype. All I want is a nice clear picture and a straight up title that accurately describes what's being offered for sale and nothing more. If it's really mind blowing or a p q stunner I'll know it so I don't need to be treated like some kind of an idiot that will fall for slick marketing ploys over product quality. I just did a search for PQ stunner and the first coin on the list was a 1941 P Merc for 48.00! Even if it was unc. it's no more than a 60 coin since it has more ticks than a lyme disease research laboratory and is worth maybe 3 bucks. It ends in 40 minutes, I'd add a link for it but I don't think I'm allowed to yet but here's the item # 161247824750

Biggest turn offs for me are crazy descriptions, stupid reserves and insane "Buy It Now" prices.
If a Seller's stuff is gonna sell, it will sell for what it's worth providing he has it listed and photographed properly. If a Seller can't verbalized or take pics then go back to school.
I don't need any hype or sales pitches... If I like it, I'll bid on it. If the BIN is reasonable I'll buy it.
.......And "unsearched" in the title heads me straight to the exit ramp!

No reverse pictures. Do people really think that anyone is going to buy a coin with just one picture of the obverse ?
Oh yes, and the phrase " I'm no expert but ........."

I wont even click on a listing from the states if it has the phrase "Customs services and international tracking provided" that global shipping program is a scam in my mind because shipping is usually twice as much as normal.
Other than that yeah the common "super rare" phrase kinda bugs me. And I agree its got to have a picture of both sides of the coin.

Anything with bad pictures and too much hype in the description. Also too much !! or L@@K I don't need all that hand waving. I agree with denco7 on the "I'm no expert but...." That bothers me too because its usually an XF coin with MS, UNC, BU, in the description... Also this has been bugging me for a while, what does PQ mean? Also I see people here use the "newp" term... The only definition I could find on google about it was north east white pride? I am behind on these things I guess?

As posted above - L@@K and then PQ, MS++++ and then most of all, crappy photos of harshly scrubbed coins. My list of sellers excluded from my saved searches grows every day on ebay...What a waste of my time.

Most of the pq ect things in title are just to make it show up in extra searches.
Lincoln pq means premium quality.

Thanks basebal, I wondered if that was it but wasn't sure. Thought that might have been too easy

I don't like when they tell me the age of the coin. I can do the math.

3CN in 3CS category, makes me want to block seller if they can't do even a tiny bit of research on what they are selling to get it into the right category.

"Details" in the title is an automatic pass for me.

"Trust Me" and "Looks better in person" usually has me pushing the "return to listings" button.
