the problem is the only places I can think of that you can get change for a million is the bank,(who would decline and confiscate the note), or the mafia or cartel, (who would shoot you).
so its all nice to have a fake million, but try to spend it.

Here's the grandaddy of them all: the 100 quintillion Pengo from Hungary. I think it's the highest denomination note ever to go into circulation. Too many zeroes (100,000,000,000,000,000,000), so it's written in words. My mental arithmetic with stacks of zeroes is not too hot, but I think that's about 1,000,000 times bigger than the infamous $100 trillion dollars from Zimbabwe. Reading about this note I learned that the Hungarian mint printed off a one sextillion note (1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) but it never went in to circulation. I wonder if any still exist? I've been trying to get one of these from ebay (UK) for a while now, without any luck. I saw one on ebay.com for $25 but wasn't sure what a fair price is for this note. Anybody know the "book value" of the 100 quintillion Pengo?

Doesn't top the amount of 0s written on a note, but it may look like a lot if you're used to money of a strong economy (one of the most often comment about Indonesian money by foreigners is that it has too many zeroes). Those were the bill series when I was growing up, even though I never owned had the 50000. Worth how much in that stack, you ask? About 25 USD, give or take a dollar.

I hear there's a new 100,000 note out, I really like the full text of the Declaration of Independence on it. America gets a big flowery declaration, Indonesia gets a couple of typewritten sentences...

I haven't seen the new notes yet. I'm pretty sure I will when I return next year though. As far as I can remember the 100000 notes with Soekarno-Hatta always had a couple sentences of the Proclamation on it.

SluExe, seems to happen quite a lot. I've just checked mine (several different years) and it appears that the printing of the layers in not quite centred so creating a shadow effect. Well spotted.

I noticed the same problem too on a couple of other notes but they're not as extreme as that first note. The two most wonky ones are in a Pattimura Rp. 1000 and an Imam Bondjol Rp. 5000. I'll get some pics up later.

Anybody know the "book value" of the 100 quintillion Pengo? The value is 10 usd (from Standard Catalog of World Paper Money, General Issues, 1368-1960 14th edition). The other editions are listing the same price. However after looking at the Hungarian auction sites I can see that it gets sold for around 25 USD, sometimes a bit more for UNC. I could find other examples where the catalog price was off from the market prices that I know. If anyone has few that is willing to sell for that price let me know :)

Well here is my latest. Not the best looking but my Zimbabwe "holdings" now run to 150 trillion, 195 billion, 100 million, 87 thousand one hundred and ninety Zimbabwean Dollars. Yes that's 150,195,100,087,190 (not counting loose change - well if you must that's another 5 Dollars and 99 Cents). Eat your heart out Bill Gates

Here are those 2 notes. That Zimbabwean money is insanely small. I wonder what it would be like if they kept using it?

nala, the Indonesian Wikipedia has the details of the new Rp 100000 note. Not the full text of the Proclamation, but changing RI into NKRI, changing the font size of BI, and other useless little changes (probably most people won't even notice). And that yellow colour looks sickening, I hope it does not look that bad on the actual note. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...an_2014.jpeg
