Hi there. I'd like to ask you whether you still have this coin in your possession, and whether you would be willing to sell it. The person named on the coin is an ancestor of mine, and it would mean a great deal to my family to own one of these coins.

Hey PoppyAppletree, review the rules. You can't offer to buy that token just yet.

My apologies, I did not realise. Unfortunately I have no real interest in coin collecting generally and will probably never reach the post requirements set out in this site's rules, as I am specifically interested in this coin which holds significance to my family as mentioned. I have been trying to obtain one of these coins for several years, but I suppose I will just have to keep looking.

Shame, I still have the coin but wouldn't know how to value it.

If it's any help, the coins of this type I've seen on auction sites and the like have sold for about £70-80, though apparently I can't offer to buy it from you here.

It is a shame, I love seeing collectibles find their proper home and if your story is true it belongs with you. You might want o send a PM off to a moderator and see if they could help some how.

Yes, indeed. I'll ping a staff member to see if something can be done.

I'm sure you guys understand why we keep new members from engaging in commerce. Fraud is rampant in the hobby. This is a rather unusual situation, though.... Assuming both of you are telling the truth, and we have absolutely no way of ever knowing that. Keep this in mind. PoppyAppletree, I've one question for you: If you've no interest in collecting, how and why did you seek out Coin Community? With your permission, Poppy, I will provide Otter with your registration email address. Following that point, anything which happens is completely outside the bounds of what Coin Community can control and we of course have no interest in or responsibility to monitor the matter. You won't even have the assurance of an ebay Feedback rating.

SsuperDdave, I periodically search the Internet for these coins in an effort to obtain one. This site turned up in a recent search. I originally became aware of them after my father discovered their existence whilst researching our family tree - one of these coins is featured in a book about coins (which I managed to find on Google Books) which mentions my ancestor Moses. I'd be happy for you to give Otter my email address, should you be willing to do so.

Good enough. I already knew the answer to that question; Coin Community is so efficiently indexed by Google that by the time you looked this thread was the first Search result for the coin. But the only way for you to find that out is to do that Search. A test, but a very simple one all the same. I'll take care of this, with the understanding that it isn't possible for Coin Community to be involved in any capacity from this point onward.

Back in 1975 three of these sold in the Ray Byrne sale by Jess Peters Inc. The farthing Pridmore 28 in vf sold for $110. The half penny Pr.-27 in vf brought $85. not bad money in those days. with the Pr numbers you may have more luck trying to find one of these on British lists.
