I picked up an early Jefferson over the weekend and wanted to see what the CCF has to say in comparison to PCGS.

Portico well struck but the steps are missing.
I think I'm seeing the "orange peel" effect, esp. on the reverse over the dome.
If so that's a sign that it was struck with a late-state die (and could account for the lack of steps).

Too many "if's" for me to grade.

Portico...(I had to look that one up.) Colonnaded porch or entrance to a structure, or a covered walkway supported by regularly spaced columns. The portico is a principal feature of Greek temple architecture and thus a prominent element in Roman and all subsequent Classically inspired structures.
