No it is not the same coin,at least IMO this one is genuine.

OK,to me the 3 sits a fraction too low but I'm paranoid with 23 halves.

That last '23 has some serious issues that would bodybag it at the big 3.
Even if genuine and even if it was in a big 3 slab it isn't worth $895 unless it was say F15 or VF 20. There is a glut of genuine coins in lower grades so buy a better one for that kind of money.

I agree it is a problem coin. The surfaces, particularly on the obverse, appear porous.
It does appear to be a genuine example.

The date does look misaligned but that is normal for a 1923 halfpenny.
I'm not sure if paranoid is the correct term as the sellers of fake 1923 halfpennies ARE out to get you.
A little scepticism is healthy.

Even if it was genuine the slab grading is way out for the sheldon system as it
should be VF30 or better that is if it isn't cleaned

Stevo, maybe they downgraded it to allow for the lumps and bad surfaces. It is a 6 pearler but personally I'd rather a problem free 4 pearler.

Maybe it should have been bodybagged or don't they do that?
Maybe I could get a washer or a bottle cap slabbed
