Question About Graded Quarter Indian

Jon Brand Pillar of the Community United States 1023 Posts	Posted 05/02/2014 6:41 pm This coin has a grade of MS64 but has a funny spot on the obverse. There seems to be a worn area under where the ear would be. Part of the headdress is worn at the bottom. What is your take on this as it an MS64? Scratched or worn off somehow? Weak strike? I am leaning towards Grease Filled Die since there is not definitive form of something being struck through on it. I do not think that is was rubbed since it received a clean grade grade from NGC. MS-64 sales on Heritage for the last year range from $822 - $1300 for PCGS and NGC slabs. Interestingly enough, a beauty in an ANACS slab went for $722 - it looks like someone did a good pick up with that one. I am not sure if you could reslab it as an error and increase the value enough to justify the re-slabbing cost and flip it. Report this Post to the Staff
