One vote yes. Looks flat and shelf like to me in this picture. But does it actually reduce the devices? Still hard for me to tell with my tired old eyes.

yep, you can see the tops of the date all have the same sort of clipping in the same general direction, and that these have been reduced in size overall. No extra thickness or top, level doubling at all. Good job knowing the difference.

Newbie wants to know... Machine Doubling. I can see the results well enough. What caused it? What happened? Is it an error? Collectible? Added value? Thanks to all

Quote: Is it an error? Technically yes. Quote: Collectible? To some, yes. May depend on the severity. Quote: Added value? Depends on the buyer and the severity but usually not. I am sure someone who can better explain the mechanics than I will chime in.

Movement of the dies during the strike. It should be a vertical action, but because the machine is at fault it allows horizontal movement damaging the coin. I think a better term for Machine Doubling is machine damaged coins. Nothing is doubled, just damaged reducing the devices from normal size to damaged devices.

Coop, your last post was a light bulb moment for me. I finally get the reduced sized devices. I have read countless of threads in which you have mentioned that... I finally got it. Thanks. I really mean that. Thank you for continuing to post on threads which must be somewhat monotonous to you.
