The date to me anyways, looks like a 1966.
The damage affects the highest points of the coin, as well as at the rim level, so I am wondering if this coin was used in a vise job or other high pressure job such as a wedge, spacer or whatever.
I think it probably had a high rim, and had all the indicators it was an extremely strong strike.
There seems to be something more there, but its hard to prove, since it has taken a beating with some PMD. It could have been a huge Cud that ended up getting smeared under pressure, or a partial die cap under stress and movement and was spread out. I haven't "experimented" with coins under pressure in some time, but copper is a relatively softer metal and I wonder if the rim pictures are a result of it being under severe pressure / stress.
Once these coins get out in circulation, its tough to try to figure out its true path and/or abuse it has taken.
