Greg that is quite a vignette. A 2v1 fight and he appears to have his leg pinned under the horse.

It looks like quite a battle! I have a theory that this scene is loosely based on another vignette done about 20 years earlier. You'll see some similarities if you look closely.

Interesting Greg. I do see the similarities in the outline of the scene. Do you know the artist(s) of those two vignettes?

Here is one from Memphis,Tn. Not worth anything but thought it was neat that it had the envelope with it. Found in an old book.

Thanks for posting Heather! What you have there is actually something called an obsolete banknote. Before the Civil War, banks issued their own currency and there were thousands of different notes circulating. Yours has a very nice vignette that includes five gold dollar coins. Unfortunately, the damage on the right side seriously lowers the collector value.
