It's not an error ... but This 1872 Seated Liberty quarter popped up on ebay a few days ago (in the middle of the night) for 75 dollars including postage. It was a "buy it now" listing. It looks to have been a metal detector find because it's still got "crud" around the legends and devices, but at 168,000 produced, it's value is appreciably more than 75 dollars. It looks artificially toned ... but its a genuine US coin and not a Chinese knock off. Chance

That quarter is still quite beautiful! I would pay $75 in a heartbeat!

1912-D nickel in F-VF for $1.25 from a junk box. I upgraded it to an XF so I don't have pics

Acetone soak might help, Chancellor.

Acetone's a safe thing to use and I already have it on hand, so when it arrives, I'll see if that removes the crud. I actually did find a pretty cool V nickel in a lot once. It was struck on a foreign planchet. The only other thing I ever cherry picked, was a snow 9 Flying Eagle cent in VF for 35 bucks. Chance

You guys are so good and these are great stories. I just finished going through 1000s of coins and wonder how many things I've overlooked. How do you learn to pick up on such minute things?

How do you learn to pick up on such minute things? I spent 2000+ low grade (greasers) Ikes before I even knew what A .400 silver Eisenhower dollar was. May have lost 2-3 coins. Positive I spent or dumped several dozen Grease Filled Die coins. To be fair to my self === Had to dump quickly with the first 2-3 bags. Needed the $$$$ to get the next $1,000 bag. Stay with CCF. Had a story for a Canadian coins cherrypick and I realize now that this is classic US coins. Oops!
