My favorite queen Elizabeth II portrait is the second. I feel theirs more details, and it's still a youthful portrait. I live the design of the tiara and her dress. The folds on the dress are very graceful. I find a crowned head nicer to look at as opposed to a bare headed portrait. A crowned portrait is a more regal look for the monarchy. This is also why my second favorite portrait is the third one, also with a crown.
I'd enjoy reading others viewpoints on the subject! Today is exactly 2 yrs, since I started seriously started coin collecting. I've learned so much in this time. However, there's so much more to discover! I look forward to the next years.

Lucky cuss, thank you for that. My favorite is Mary Gillick`s Portrait. I'm not saying that because I'm Canadian, I'm saying that because I'm just used to them. Also, some people actually think each of those portraits shown is a different person.

Quote: BTW, lucky cuss, a lot of the portraits on that page were never issued on Canadian coins. Yes, but then that wasn't a stated parameter, although I suppose it's implied by the category in which this thread was started. I agree about liking the earliest portrayal dating to just after her coronation.... 1953 Half Crown Except for cents, I don't know thar I have a Canadian version of this depiction (or at least one that I've photographed).

I think the young version, but I have a fondness for anything by de Pedery Hunt.

I prefer the young portrait over any with a tiara. A young QE-II coin with a ultra heavy cameo is truly stunning and rare. Congrats on 2 years.

I like the young portrait the most, then the third portrait.

I like the 1st the 1953 - 1964 version because not only is it the most attractive but these were the coins of my childhood in Ontario

Great discussion everyone! I wasn't aware of the other portraits, great link. I look forward to more opinions. I do love the cameo's too. My least favorite portrait is the current one. I wish they'd change it out.

First portrait for sure! I started collecting in the mid 1950s as a very young boy. I remember much preferring the beautiful young Queen's image over those other old guys who came before her!

I like the Arnold Machin portrait -especially given that that Tiara has an interesting story about it ...

The first one and the second one are good -- because she was young!

Can anyone tell me if it's only the first portrait that comes in cameos?
