Thanks for the information - I too have submitted an order for the 'red maple' from Silvertown. $50 (US$) and free shipping to Canada - that's quite a deal when the issue price was $114.95

Me too. Odd that they don't accept PayPal from Canadian accounts.

Hopefully, the free shipping is actually free (i.e. no brokerage and taxes erroneously collected by the carrier).

I always thought there was always something wrong with the pricing on this one. For example, Colonial Acres have offered it from the beginning for $109.95 despite the official issue price of $114.95. No idea why they were discounting it from the get go. Seems obvious now.

I was on the fence at 110 bucks but for 50, it's a no-brainer for me.

I received mine yesterday.
The coin is very nice... I don't like the medallion-type but still at this price I like it.

But why specifically these discounted?

Recently, we have many coins, that far from be sold-out, and even not interesting anyone. So I would expect, if discount is going on - it will be not just for one item.

My guess (it's just a guess) is that SilverTowne commissionned this one. They bought quite a lot upfront, thinking they would be more popular, and are now stuck with them.

Like others said, it's a very nice coin but not worth $115 (but a steal at $56). The inflated price must be due to the enamel process.

@CC-Ottawa: They scared me too by notifying me that my coin was shipped via UPS but it was ultimately delivered by Canada Post without any fees. So you shouldn't worry too much.

Thanks. It does have a UPS tracking number but I see this caveat on the e-mail:

"This message was sent to you at the request of SILVERTOWNE to notify you that the electronic shipment information below has been transmitted to UPS. The physical package(s) may or may not have actually been tendered to UPS for shipment."

Will look for Canada Post to bring it.

I'm very pleased with the maple impression I received, I was worried there would be a flaw of some sort but to my surprise the coin looks fabulous.

Up to $250, Silvertowne uses UPS service only in US, once the packet is in Canada is delivered by Canada Post. If the cost of the items if $250 or more, Silvertowne uses UPS complete service that includes the delivery to your house and in this case you could expect to pay a UPS brokerage fee.

I think, I waited to post like this...
Tell me guys, please, do you all liked this coin and waited for the discounts?

I almost ordered....CAD 50.00 good price for nice coin. And then I understood, that although being nice, I even didn't think about it, and now was ready to jump on it only because of price drop.
I have the 5 coins RCM wooden box and filling it with numismatic Maple Leafs....though that this one will be good. Ironically, going to spend more:
the new fractional silver set is coming, and looks like the 1oz coin is nice - so I'll buy the 1oz from fractional instead.
