Looks like a die scratch. If it were a occluded gas bubble it would have to be on a solid copper planchet, and it would also show on the nose. (It would be raised.) Instead it doesn't affect the higher part of the nose. Its also not a linear plating bubble as it would have flowed over the nose as well. Just a die scratch on a zinc planchet.

Let me learn a little more... If that is a scratch on the die, then might there be other examples showing this scratch?

I don't think it is a die scratch, I think it is plating bubbles.

Conder101 might be correct. Could we have a full image of the coin on both sides? If it is a linear plating bubble, we might see more bubbles in other areas of the coin.

The inconsistent thickness, depth, and sharpness is not what would be expected from a die scratch. This is just a linear plating bubble.

And very nice close-ups, by the way, Chute72!

I'm trying to catch up on a few bills, so I haven't bought a new coin for a while. But when cleaning the house, I found a small container of Wheaties. I just think this might be a good time to learn about them.
