Hi All,
Got my paws on this one. Sort of a check-out line impulse buy at a coin shop.
Anyway, I could see with with my eyes there was something different about it, had to wait until I got home to put it under the loupe. Admittedly, I know very little about early tokens and respected errors (not that one sees many listed for auction, sale, info pages, etc.), Breton numbers and so on.
So here's this piece. I'm looking for proactive input on what others may think this is (double die, clashed die, something else?). Personally, I'm leaning to clashed die. But the area of the E and O can almost appear to be doubled. Another unique thing is the fact that these anomalies are on both the obverse and reverse.
I realize this is not a great grade, and that these Brocks' were weakly struck etc., but these ones do pop out. Is are/these common? I don't even know a rough estimate of mintage of these.
Any help is and will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
