I just purchased this 1958 Canadian dollar and I am wondering whether it would be worth it to send in to C.C.C.S. for grading. The only real negative I see is the scratch under her chin and all I can say is that it looks a lot worse in this picture than it is in person. I won't send it in unless it's got a very good chance of grading MS65. Any input would be appreciated. Sorry if the pictures are a bit large. Thanks, Bob

It has little eye appeal with the haphazard toning marks. It would have to have a chance at a MS65 before the cost of certification begins to make sense for this particular year.

I am going to upload a couple of new pictures tomorrow. My pictures were horrible. It actually has fairly light toning and the thing that looks like a gouge is actually a fairly light scratch. Other than the scratch/gouge and a couple or other minor scratches the surfaces are completely mark free. Until tomorrow. Thanks for all the reply's

Could this coin be a proof-like?

I have looked at a bunch of PL's and this just doesn't have the same patina but the lack of small circulation/bag marks makes me a bit suspicious that it is a PL. I'll put up a few more pictures later today and maybe that will give enough information to make a determination.

Sharp outer rims of obverse and half of reverse makes me think it's a PL.

Here are a couple more pictures. I hope they are a bit better. One way or the other this coin is going to get an acetone bath to remove the PVC contamination.

If it's PL, the divot in right field will make it no better than PL-64. Not worth certifying in that case.
