In all the boxes that I've searched (106) I've only found 131 rolls of copper 1982 pennies. Which is greater than my count on LWC and 2009 coins combines.

Anyone seeing anything similar?

Hmm I run so many, I really only look for the wheats, and the BU's. I will start keeping a eye on it though, and let you know what I find. I dont keep 2009 pennys, or even look for them for that matter.

1982 saw over 16.7 billion cents made between both mints--they are statistically the most common coin the USA has ever made, and might hold that record for the entire world.

There is no official data on the breakdown by composition, but the change happened in mid/late November if I remember correctly. Thus, about 85-95% of all '82 cents are copper.

i am still seeing about 40% copper, but I don't track the 1982 specifically, so no idea. I got a jar full of them though

I just got done going through 50 rolls and had about 95% of the being copper... 1982-d large date to be more specific... just started going through another 60 rolls and some rolls are older. the oldest pennies in some of these rolls at around 1985. in these rolls, 95% of the 1982s are zinc. again, mostly 1982-d large dates. unfortunately almost all of them have varying degrees of corrosion. some good ones though. the only 1982 I have yet to find is the 1982-p copper small date. wanna trade?

I don't waste my time weighing 1982 cents.

I only keep red problem free 2009's which are few and far between but on par 1:1 with wheat finds.

Maybe if copper cents are 5X face I might start weighing them if I find a regular buyer.

I've went through well over175 rolls of LMC and have found 2/5 in 1982 and 1983 cents which only accounted for maybe a 1/6 of the coins.
