I can't think of any portraits of Nero with a full beard including mustache which he appears to have.

Nero was more of a neckbeard kind of guy if I recall correctly

Perhaps this is an ancient version of a hobo nickel?

Unfortunately, not tooled. Perhaps made to appear so. This coin appears to be struck from modern dies - the seller had two Neros up for sale, both appeared tooled, but on closer inspection, both came from identical dies (or perhaps were tooled exactly the same, by a steady hand). Unsurprisingly, one of the two dissapeared before sale.

This sold a couple of days ago over ebay - I believe its a German seller. He's been selling quite a few 'questionable' coins.

(on closer inspection, both coins come from germany, but different sellers...one who is quite well respected it seems. They both sold at the same time, about a minute apart)

This coin and the other coin.

That makes it more curious, if anything:

Both in the same city. I looked back over the last 15 days sales and there is something definitely odd about them. Stylistically they are similar.
