Local auction coming up with a complete 1967 proof set including the 1/2 ounce gold coin. Any input on my max bid. From what I can see on line it is not worth much more than melt. Is there anything I should know?
thank you

It's not a proof set. It's a set of specimen strike coins.
Check ebay sold listings for pricing.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...

The 2014 "Coins of Canada" puts a value on the 67 specimen gold set of $750.00, down from $800.00 in last years catalogue. It depends on what percentage of book price you want to pay. I have seen them on ebay for more than book price, but I don't know what they sold for. I made an offer of $700.00 but was rejected.

Id pay melt because you can get it for that on a good day.

If your interested, I have all 1967 coinage ICCS MS65 for sale, you can then just look around for that $20 at a good price.

Depends on what the auction fees are... make sure you take that into consideration... If you BID melt price.. you'll end up paying melt + auction fees...

You can certainly find these sets for around melt "all in" plus minus 5%...

Thanks all for the wisdom, I'll let you know if I get it.

Thank you JimmyD for the offer, I have a couple of the 67 silver sets (not MS65, just the RCM sealed plastic) but I'm good for now. I'm interested in the gold uncirculated $20.00 coin.
