I have never heard of any fake coins in cheerio boxes because that was their promotion to get the coins in circulation and to sell cereal

Oh, OK. Good that it's still in the airtight package. So, there has to be more to this story? How did you get it? Are you going to sell it? Oh, and welcome to the forum!

I also would like to know how a non-collector "just comes across" this coin.

I'm thinking that a relative (grandma for some reason I'm thinking) got it or maybe a yard sale find?

Well, no. I phrased my original post incorrectly. My mother had given it to me when it came out of the Cheerios. Thinking nothing of it, I threw it in a drawer. Last month, I had to pack up and move in to college, so I finally cleaned out the drawer and there it was.

Does the die anomaly on the dollar mean there's lack of or more detail on the tail feathers?

it was a pattern coin instead of bring like every other circulating Sacagawea dollar it has details in the tail feathers the circulating Sacagawea don't have

Also I want to add, this has been quite awhile since this thread was started and I have yet to see PCGS add another cheerios sacky to their population report

I was just thinking about the Sac. Cheerios dollar. I remember seeing one of these sell on e-bay about 3 years ago, for a little over $3,000.00. I thought the Sac. dollar could not go any higher, until recently. If I would have known that, then I would have placed a bid back in 2004.

Out of 5,000 coins, how many do you think were spent in 2000 by kids who found them?
