I got interested in Canadian tokens about 2 years ago when I got a few in a miscellaneous auction lot, including a couple with countermarks, and I've since acquired more.

I can only afford to buy 1 book as I have other collecting interests.

I've seen advertised
Coins and Canada 2013 Professional Edition Price Guide
- see http://coinsandcanada.com/shop-coinsandcanada.php

and Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Colonial Tokens - (9th edition, I think)

Which reference catalogue is best for Canadian tokens and why, please ?

Charlton is a good starter for colonial , it will cross
reference to Breton and others. It has weights and sizes etc.

Charlton is excellent, so also is
Whitman's "A Guide Book of Canadian Coins and Tokens,"
authored by Doctor Haxby.

Both are available on ebay under Coins / Publications.

Two copies of New Brunswick Tokens by Dr. Bird are currently on ebay.
The book was published some twenty years ago and is an excellent
work explaining the variety attributions of Doctor Eugene Courteau.

I found this on Kijiji

I looks like a nice book, but 100 is too much, maybe 20$.

This looks like a very early edition and has value as a collector's item in its own right. If you just want the data, you can buy a new reprint for 32.95.

There is a free book on that subject in the Archives linked to the supplies sub forum, I used it when I was acquiring a set of Ruthford tokens. I have Dr. Bird's book too and it really explains the frigate tokens of N.B..

A good all around reference though Dr. Haxby's book though, can't go wrong with it and easily found.
