I was wondering if there is any sort of market for Carthaginian coins, or if they are even available. I cant find much about Carthaginian money from a simple google search but I was hoping someone with more experience might know something about them. If they exist I would love to be able to have one some day, although I am sure they are hard to come by.

They are actually remarkably common on ebay, but sell for big prices. Occasionally good ones slip through cheap - I got a nice one for about £9.

I love Carthaginian coins! You can get some rough ones for relatively cheap (under $50 range) although anything silver is going to cost you a lot of money. Here are a few of mine:

Carthaginian-Coins?
One of the aforementioned rough coins, minted in Carthage or possibly Punic Sicily between 264-241 BC. 16 mm, 2.06 g.

Carthaginian-Coins?

A nicer example of a bronze, minted in Carthage between 264-241 BC. 22 mm, 8.57 g.

Carthaginian-Coins?

My nicest Carthaginian coin, a billion tridrachm that cost something around $300. 9.589g, 26.2mm, Carthage mint, c. 215 - 205 B.C.

chuy1530 wow, that last one is amazing. The reverse of a horse and palm tree seem to be the most common image I have seen yet.

Ancientnoob I am just looking around for some decent looking and relatively inexpensive ($30-50) coins. Unfortunately I dont really have time/money to build up a decent collection because I will be leaving for bootcamp soon, however I still want to get my hands on some more before then :). I currently only have a Roman Republican denarius in my collection, along with some classic US coins.

The 5th one with the close up horse reverse is pretty neat, I have not seen very many with horses that close up or detailed. all these pictures are just making me want to buy away on vcoins :)
