As title says, has this coin been cleaned? Just looks too "not dirty" and have all that wear on it, but I could be mistaken. I think I need a more experienced person to help. Thanks!

I've noticed the darkness inside the eight on the obverse, does not look like dirt build up at all.

There is no doubt in my mind that this coin has been cleaned. For a coin with that level of wear to show absolutely nothing on the surfaces save that one (telling) spot of color inside the 8, just doesn't compute. I can't think of a way for the coin to have survived in this condition without a cleaning.

Thanks Dave!
I thought it was cleaned but needed confirmation as I am not an expert. I bought this one from Silvertowne about a year ago and was always wondering.

It's most telling in the full-face image of the obverse. Understanding that one might want to factor in lighting and photographic technique, that "look" - the nice even finish across all details of the coin, the lack of patina, and the very slight "halo" around the edges of the devices - is the classic "I've been cleaned" appearance for a Morgan. A coin that old, with that much circulation, is going to show some visual evidence of its' long life. This one does not, and IMO that is because somebody cleaned that evidence off of it.

It has that "soft" look indicate of a cleaned silver coin.

It was dipped, yes, but I do not see any sign that it was done harshly. Personally I would have kept it.
