1941 was a significant year. On the world front the US got pulled into WWII On the local front I arrived On the numismatic front about 10 years ago I put together my Birthyear Set. The intent was to have a matched set but since the Lincoln Cents were relatively inexpensive I got them in MS- or PF- 66RD. Lincoln Cents - Birthyear Set (1941)

For the Jefferson nickels I went with MS-65 FS. The proof is PF-66. Jefferson Nickels - Birthyear Set (1941)

The Walking Liberty half dollars were particularly expensive not only because they had the highest catalog values BUT ALSO there are two varieties of the proofs. Walking Liberty Half Dollars - Birthyear Set (1941) The "no AW" proof variety was created by die polishing. The Mint used business strike dies to strike the proofs; it just polished them up first. Sort of overdid it on some of the dies.
