I am playing with Ike dollars here of late, and just bought an interesting one. Probablly paid too much for it, but, I'm into scarce coins and I think this one fits that well. The Talons can easily be seen with the naked eye,and the moon line can also, but is less distinct. It also has a slight Hair Lip Clash. Please give me some opinions as to the rarity and value. Hopefully some Ike guys will chime in. Maybe even J. Buck will give his opinion, Thanks to all

I am still new to varieties and errors on the series, but I like it.

I moved this to the V&E forum for the regular experts to opine.

Actually they are not all talons. There are part of the olive leaves in that area and the legs.

The talons are much small than what you are seeing on your coin.

They are from clashes. Created when there is no planchet between the dies. Thus created, not a variety as the die was normal until this event happened. Probably later polished off the obverse die.

This same coin was talked about over at coin talk and the IKE Group. Someone at the Ike group felt it is worth about $25. It's ANACS now, so that opinion may change somewhat. I am not sure if this coin is a big deal or just something strange.I just purchased it after grading, and do enjoy owning it. It has a good home now!
