Hi. I'm a new member here, just starting out on e bay as well. I have been collecting lincoln pennies, especially have a fondness of the error coins. And I recently purchased a OBW roll of 1960 D small date uncirculated lincoln cents. I finally talked myself into opening this roll and I find this beautiful double date coin. With doubling I've seen others come close to, but have a hard time relating my coin. It is simply more extreme. Now I know that I need to get it graded first, but within my research Id like to have in mind what possinble value it may have. What has really got me whirling is to see a d/d 1960 d be auctioned off at Heritage House for $4,025.00 and to wonder why is that coin any better than mine. And is that outrageous price possible? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Welcome to the CCF :-) I've moved this thread to Modern US variety & errors for better exposure to your question.

A better in focus image would be helpful.

sorry, it has taken me soo long to send more pictures. Hope you are still interested in enlightening me with some better knowledge. I am saving the money to become a member of the NGC so that I may have a few of my findings professionally graded. And so, far all my research has just frustrated me as I guess I am just not looking in the right places. The literature I recently purchased was simply no help at all when it comes to error coins. I bought the Official Red Book. I sure hope someone out there could leave some feedback that can help me to increase my knowledge on this coin and on where I should be seeking my knowledge on this and all other error lincolns. Thank you once again. Everyone has been very considerate and welcoming.

That is 1960D-1MM-100 and also 1960D-1DO-001 My coin has a coin wrapper mark on it on the mint mark. Yours has one on the 1 in the date. (Note how the mark on the device is parallel to the rim.) They cuts the value to seasoned collectors and lower the grade with the grading companies.
