A lot of people have culled out the Bicentennial quarters thinking they're valuable and will pay off their student loans. In reality the P and D quarters are worth 25 cents unless they're immaculate, the clad proofs go for about $1 or $2, and the silver issues typically between $5 and $10. There is a hard to find DDR on the 1976-D quarter, which is worth quite a bit if you are lucky.

I thought it was interesting because I haven't seen one in so long. I can remember when bicentennial quarters and half dollars were seen every day.

Quote: I went through a few days of change and found this. I don't know if they're common or not but I can't remember the last time I got one. Fun find! Not as common as they used to be.

I got this today. I know these are no big deal but it's been many years since I got one in change.

That serial number is a bit low though I don't think it's got any special value. And it's a star note to boot!

I didn't expect it to be worth anything but it was interesting to get one after all these years. Other than the creases from being folded the paper and ink show no signs of wear. It's like someone kept it for years and then it somehow ended up in circulation.

Thanks, Errers and Varietys. I was surprised when the cashier handed it to me because you just don't see them in change anymore.

Thanks, jbuck. I don't recall the bills ever being plentiful in circulation.
I have a couple of first day issue $2 that my Dad got at the bank the day they came out.
