I considered that, jbuck. My change was three quarters and four cents. I was at the drive through window close to the cahier and saw him take out the change. There had to have been more Wheaties on top for me to get exactly four. I don't know.

You should have circled around and got more food.

Quote: When I got home and checked I saw that all four cents were Wheat Cents. very cool! that happened to me once years ago at Subway. got home to discover the cents that I was given in change were all wheaties, very old ones... a 1935, a 1925 plus another, can't remember the date, maybe 1919. I may have posted that find here somewhere. anyway, I was faced with that same question: how did that happen? they must have dumped a roll containing numerous wheaties into the register's change tray. I thought about going back, but the girls working the counter were all eastern european (czech, maybe) so the language barrier would have been in play. I didn't go back. i just returned from the pet store. I discovered they had given me a pretty decent 1945 wheatie in my change.

That's very interesting, MrPink. I received my Wheaties from a Del Taco drive thru. That's why I didn't check my change until I got home. If I had checked it before driving away I would have asked the cashier if he had more.

that's pretty much what I did, stuffed my change into my pocket and left without looking at it. I think. correcting my earlier post: it was a 1935-S, 1925 and 1918. I found the pictures and checked the timestamp: december 2018. now i'll go look for the post. edit, about ten minutes later... i have my wires crossed somewhere. that did happen to me at subway, but I'm confusing my coins. I found those three coins mentioned in the found money thread in the very first post!!

I glance at my change when I get it because I'm looking for shiny new 2025 coins to post in a different topic. The four cents were brown so I didn't pay any attention to them until I got home.

usually (but not always) the patina of a Wheat cent, especially the older ones, is enough to catch my eye. sometimes they get past me, but I always catch them sooner or later. my pet store score:

Found a well-circulated '45 D Wheat cent encrusted with gunk a few days ago in change. It's taking a looooong acetone soak. Will post pics later.
