I hadn't thought about that. You are right. The mint location has nothing to do with having new coins in this area. I'm not sure of the location of the nearest Federal Reserve Bank.
I guess I'll just feel lucky the new coins are so plentiful, and not worry about "why" they are available.

I hadn't seen a single WV quarter in circulation, even though it has been issued for weeks. So, went to the bank, and the teller pulled out a roll and sold it to me.
Then, the very next day, I found one in circulation. Condition was about as perfect as you could hope for, with no noticible bag marks.

I FOUND ONE! A 1957D Lincoln Wheat cent in circulation! WOW! What a treasure (about F-12)! I just hope I don't have to wait another three years before I find another collectible in my change. [:0] (We need a smiley for sarcastic frustration.) Fred

I feel your pain Fred! You'd think with all the coins I get to search I'd find at least something lately, but the pickins have been slim. In the last month I've found a silver quarter and a wartime nickel but that's about it. Yeah, I know, that's better than what most people get a chance to find, but compared with what I've been able to find in the past, it's basically chicken feed. Even the wheat cents have been few and far between, and the ones I have found have been nothing special. Lots of 58-D's, no BIE's either (Longnine has me well trained- I already checked them!). Sigh.... Rachel [:p]

You are so right, as I haven't seen any thing worth collecting since old spot was a pup. Years ago I started only carrying paper bills and any change we would get, the wife would put in her purse. To this day we still do that same thing, only now I'm not allowed to even look at the change before she puts it in her purse. Don't really know what she is doing with all of it. Guess I had better find out!

Romania, 1924, 1 Leu A little smaller than a nickel. Seems to me this is the second Romanian coin I've found in circulation in recent months.

This past month I have found: Nickels: 1970 S, 1969 S, 1959 D, and 1957 D Dimes: 1964 D, 1963 D, and a 1956 D
I know it is not a coin but I got a 1934 B Ten Dollar bill as change. I did not think anything of it at first until I went to spend it and I thought the bill looked odd. I could not believe it when I checked the date. Hard to believe this could have still been in circulation.

Hi Terry, If you won the lottery , why would you bother? I think collecting is also that about that elusive 'missing' component of a set. [:p] Once that's done what is there left in life? ....collecting bottletops? (My apologies to the bottle top collectors of the world ) And NEVER is a long time. After a long search, I gave into despair and bought an Australian $1 mule. Within 4 months, I found another 3. See you on the Dark Side Graham

I believe he is! And, if I win the lottery I could build the collection I want as I prefer having a coin collection to having new money lying around in the bank! More chance of making a buck or two and building something we are proud of. Collecting coins is also a very quiet way of saving money with NO paper trail, no taxes on your savings and no bull if one should die. It just becomes my wife's or childrens collection which they have been working on for years and years, with my help of course! Now about those mules, WE like mules in Indiana so you can get FREE storage here any time you like! Yass, I am and always will be a coin collector regardless of how much money I have! The lottery would offer me older and rarer coins that I can not afford now and and putting my money into those kind of rarities would mean much more to me than putting it into a bank or stocks for someone else to make money off of! Regardless of how much money I have or will ever have I enjoy the freedom and control of collecting coins!
