A little better. The S should be head on with serif and upper loop above the flat in D. That's what it appears to be at least.

Another try right side up. Too bad it isn't 42' where I could make at least a couple people consider a RPD haha! I won't go there

Nope it's a D with a die chip in the center of the D. San Francisco only struck proof coins in 1982.

Well I do appreciate the input either way :-) I saw there were some D/D 82's so just thought I'd put it out there

There was a 1980-D that was called a D/S, but was debunked as die damage:
