Love this coin, 2 million minted, the one you got might be an F-12 to F-15 worth maybe $6. I don't know about variety's though!

Picked up 2 recently from coin shop. 1 is F12 & the other VF20. Yours looks almost identical to the F12. As far as varieties, I think there is only the medal axis and the coinage axis variations.

There are also date variations besides the axis. But I do not think they are recognized. here are images I took some time ago. there may be other variants than what I have here.

Thanks 47P7- Didn't know about the variations. They are not recognized in any of my catalogues. Checked mine and they are both 7 between denticles Don't have a clue as to what is the rareist variety though.

Re the variations. Perhaps different mints relate to variations. Heaton Mint (private company) in Birmingham was used for some when The Royal Mint was flat out making other coins. On a side note. The engraver was Leonard Wyon, - the main engraver for The Royal Mint for many years

Thanks '47P7', seems you are the only one who noticed.
But thanks all for your responses.

The medal & coinage axis were already noted twice on earlier posts.
